The history of Blygold In the early seventies, Rijk Bleijenberg, the CEO of the company began his career as a representative of an American chemical company. During one of his visits to the United States he was introduced to chemical cleaning methods for cooling devices. Although he had never seen these methods before, they made him so enthusiastic that he decided to introduce them on the Dutch market.
The year 1976 was the start of Blychem BV (BLYenberg CHEMicals), selling chemical-technical cleaning methods, which were the first major activities of Blychem BV.
During subsequent years, there was an ever-increasing demand for corrosion protection on the heat exchangers of condensers. In anticipation of this, Blychem BV introduced a chromate conversion layer that could be sprayed on the heat exchangers coils. The conversion layers, however, did not provide sufficient protection, so a new coating was developed: Blygold Tropic. Combined with a specialized application technique, Blygold Tropic was introduced in early 1985.
The results of this revolutionary product and technique were so significant, that in order to meet the demands of large companies such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Shell, Philips, Schiphol Airport, Flower Auction Aalsmeer and others, it was necessary for Blychem to open a subsidiary at Amsterdam’s International Airport, Schiphol.
In 1994 Blychem changed its name to Blygold and started Blygold the Netherlands. To stimulate international growth, the management decided that Blygold the Netherlands BV should be an example for the rest of the world. Therefore, Blygold the Netherlands and Blychem were integrated in 1995. The success of this formula resulted in the foundation of Blygold International BV in 1996.
Since the foundation of Blygold International in 1996, Blygold is now represented in more than 30 countries and is a well-known name in the HVAC market. This is mainly thanks to the quality partners that have chosen to work with Blygold and therefore benefit from this success formula.
